Complete Harmony STL Yoga for Youth: A Brief History

In December 2016, Complete Harmony was founded by Melissa Dierker.  After having completed her 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) with local non-profit, YogaBuzz, Melissa saw the connection between her social work experience and trauma-informed yoga for youth.

In 2018, Grace Eberle joined Melissa. Completing her 200hr YTT with Yoga Buzz, Grace connected her art and marketing entrepreneurialism towards developing with Melissa St. Louis’ first trauma-informed embodied movement and mindfulness services for youth.

Complete Harmony supports youth, their families, and all developing minds eager to connect with themselves, each other, and the world around them through a unique integration of trauma-informed embodied movement and mindfulness, mental health, and yogic philosophies. Through Melissa and Grace’s specific choice-based programming, developing minds can explore the many evolving pathways within themselfs, from social-emotional awareness, coping skills, and mindfulness practices to embodied movement, sensory connection, and so much more.

Hi, I’m Melissa Dierker (she/they), I am a mom of three, wife, social worker, singer and creator. I absolutely love creating, spending time with kids, and doing yoga. I completed my 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training through Yoga Buzz, which focused on using a trauma-informed approach for all people and communities. I have completed 20 hours of training in Trauma Sensitive Yoga through the Trauma Center at JRI. I have also completed the Yoga for Youth training through Urban Breath that also focused on using a trauma-informed approach for all youth. I am also a certified prenatal yoga teacher and completed my 85-hour course through Urban Breath. I have completed my 95-Hour kids' yoga teacher training through Little Flower Yoga.

I created Complete Harmony after I saw a need to bring trauma-informed yoga to kids and youth, using a trauma-sensitive approach and providing a studio that is dedicated just to kids and teens. After working for the state, and at a not for profit with kids for over 10 years who have experienced trauma, I realize how trauma-sensitive yoga and mindfulness can help so many people and help build strong support for families. I strive to see individuals reach complete harmony with their mind, body, and spirit while processing and learning new strategies in an ever-changing world. I strive to make a safe environment, free of judgment, providing yoga with an empathetic, creative, and flexible approach.

Teaching mindfulness and body awareness to all kids and teens is so important in nurturing positive body image/awareness, regulating stress and anxiety, encouraging self-confidence, and more. I understand that it takes a village to support and raise a child. I would love to be part of that village.

Hey there, I am Grace Eberle (she/they) a mom, student, teacher, and content creator for all ages! My background is diverse working with many populations, needs, and interests.  A few of the programs I've completed are 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training with Yoga Buzz, Zabie Yamaski's Transcending Sexual Trauma through Yoga, 95-hour Children’s Yoga Teacher Training with Lisa Roberts , and completed 20 hours of Trauma Sensitive Yoga through the Trauma Center at JRI. In 2019, I completed my Reiki III Master attunement and practice this energy work regularly during my classes.

Working with youth to explore how we can connect with ourselves, each other, and the world around us is a constant learning experiment as each and every one of us views the world so differently.  Using movement, art, music, science, and each individual's interest, we create our time together in a way that is unique to each student.

A mantra I keep with me from educator and philosopher Paulo Freire is “...Love is an act of courage.”
